Claim: Income Protection
Client: Major Insurance Company
The owner/manager of an accounting firm alleges he is unable to operate his business due to the development of stress and anxiety problems and lodges a claim with his income protection insurer.
The insurer wanted to confirm that the claimant was incapacitated as claimed before accepting the claim. Initial surveillance investigations carried out in daylight hours showed that the claimant was at home and not working. As a precaution surveillance was undertaken at night at which time the claimant was followed to his office.
The claimant was working in his firm from 9.00pm every evening and his claim for income protection was denied.
Claim: Workers Compensation
Client: Self-insured Large ASX-listed Corporation
A worker in the fresh produce department suffered serious injuries when struck on the head by an overhead roller door.
The client wanted to obtain information regarding the circumstances of the accident as well as ascertaining if there were any complaints made about the door prior to the injury.
Evidence was obtained from management and witnesses that indicated there were problems with the overhead door and that the manufacturer / installer of the door was liable.
